Second Quantization Formalism
Quantum chemists we are seldom concern with phenomena involving variations in the number of particles, so they do not need to resort to quantum field theories to lay the foundations of their work (one exception are certain spectroscopic phenomena with require a quantum description of electromagnetic radiation). The standard quantum mechanic theory for material particles is then a sufficient bas...
متن کاملSecond-Quantization Formalism for Geminals
A method of constructing second-quantization formalism on a set of orthonormal geminals (two-particle antisymmetric functions) is described. Instead of using an initial set of creation and annihilation operators with nontrivial commutation rules, the so-. -called ideal creation and annihilation operators, satisfying elementary Bose commutation rules, are used. The resulting Hamiltonian and an a...
متن کاملEntanglement and second quantization in the framework of the fermionic projector
We analyze if entangled fermionic states can be described by a projector in the one-particle Hilbert space. A method is developed for realizing entanglement and general second quantized fermionic and bosonic fields in the framework of the fermionic projector. Our constructions are discussed with regard to decoherence phenomena and the measurement problem.

The Deustch-Jozsa problem is one of the most basic ways to demonstrate the power of quantum computation. Consider a Boolean function f : {0, 1} → {0, 1} and suppose we have a black-box to compute f . The Deutsch-Jozsa problem is to determine if f is constant (i.e. f(x) = const, ∀x ∈ {0, 1}) or if f is balanced (i.e. f(x) = 0 for exactly half the possible input strings x ∈ {0, 1}) using as few c...
متن کاملThe Mathematics of Second Quantization.
The following is an attempt to construct a mathematical model for use in quantum field theory. Although few nonspecialists have had opportunity to become familiar with the language of modern pure mathematics, quantum theory seems to have reached a point where it must use that language if it is to find a genuine escape from the divergence difficulties. Divergence can not be properly coped with w...
